Job summary

The Nuclear Company seeks a Director of Accounting to lead controllership across Nuclear businesses, overseeing month-end close, policy, and internal controls. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will manage governance across owned entities, projects, joint ventures, SPVs, and acquisitions.

Hybrid role based in Columbia, SC or Washington, DC, requiring in-office presence 3 days/week. Experience with acquisitions, US GAAP, and ERP systems is essential for success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Strong technical accounting under U.S. GAAP across project-based services and capital-intensive activities.
• Experience in multi-entity environments with joint ventures, SPVs, projects, or acquisitions.
• Demonstrated ownership of month-end close, financial reporting, and consolidation.
• Experience leading acquisitions and integrating businesses onto common systems and controls.

Responsibilities

• Close and financial reporting: manage accuracy and timeliness of results and consolidation.
• Technical accounting and policy: apply US GAAP across contracts, projects, and entities.
• Project and entity accounting: ensure reliable reporting for deployments, new entities, partnerships.
• Purchase accounting and integration: lead diligence and post-acquisition integration.
• Systems processes and controls: integrate ERP systems and strengthen internal controls.
• Financial reporting readiness: support SOX and internal control over financial reporting.
