At BairesDev®, we’re leading technology projects worldwide. We are looking for a COBOL Programmer to maintain and modernize key applications on IBM mainframes, ensuring stability and evolution of core processing in banking and government sectors.

You will design and optimize COBOL batch and online processing, manage CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This is a 100% remote role with flexible hours and competitive USD compensation.

Formación

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Mainframe Development, or Systems Programming.
• Proven expertise in maintaining and modernizing COBOL applications on IBM mainframes.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies including CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance COBOL applications for batch and online processing.
• Manage and optimize mainframe components including CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Analyze complex legacy codebases to identify and implement modernization and optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and updates.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot defects to ensure the reliability of mission-critical systems.
• Document system changes and workflows to preserve institutional knowledge and support long-term maintainability.

As a COBOL Programmer, you will maintain and modernize critical applications on IBM mainframes. You will serve as a key link between legacy systems and modern business requirements, ensuring the stability and evolution of core processing environments in sectors like banking and government.

• Hands-on experience with both batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Strong analytical skills for debugging and optimizing legacy codebases.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
