Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for a product-led engineering team. You will work with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB Atlas, and Aurora MySQL on AWS, handling everything from tooling to architecture.

The role emphasizes compliance, cost-savings, observability, and mid-level design work, with collaboration across engineers, PMs, data scientists, and designers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proficiency in MongoDB on Atlas.
• Proficiency in Aurora MySQL on AWS.
• Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS.
• Experience with Spring Boot and GraphQL (DGS).

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work including compliance and maintenance, cost-savings, observability, and operational tool development.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and fellow engineers to clarify requirements and perform mid-level design work, focusing on coding, testing, and documentation.
