AgileEngine is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems using Java and/or Kotlin with Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB Atlas, and Aurora MySQL on AWS. The role covers operational tooling, observability, and system architecture with emphasis on reliability and cost-savings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proficiency with MongoDB Atlas and Aurora MySQL on AWS.
• Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS with Spring Boot.
• Upper-intermediate English communication.

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work the team lacks bandwidth for, including compliance and engineering maintenance, cost-savings, observability, experiment clean-up, and operational tool development.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and fellow engineers to clarify requirements and perform mid-level design work, focusing on coding, testing, and documentation.
