Job summary

The NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Sonographer to independently perform and report ultrasound examinations and train Radiology Registrars. You will support the Area Lead Sonographer in meeting targets and improving patient care within Radiology.

You will evaluate referrals, adapt scanning techniques, and provide independent diagnostic reports to clinicians while exercising professional judgment for urgent cases.

Qualifications

• Registered Radiographer with valid HCPC Registration.
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
• Postgraduate expertise within speciality demonstrating breadth of knowledge.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform and report ultrasound examinations and train Radiology Registrars.
• Assist Area Lead Sonographer to meet operational targets and improve patient care.
• Evaluate referrals and gather relevant clinical information for imaging decisions.
• Adapt scanning technique to optimise image quality and diagnostic outcomes.
• Provide an independent diagnostic report and advice on patient management.
