Job summary

Emerson is seeking a senior Automation Engineer to design, implement and lead DCS/PLC/SCADA projects across Latin America. You will coordinate with regional offices in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and the US, supervising large engineering teams and ensuring on-time delivery within budget.

The role demands 10+ years in industrial automation with DCS/SCADA expertise, strong leadership and multilingual capabilities. Travel up to 60% is required to support projects worldwide.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in related field.
• Travel up to 60%.
• Intermediate level of English.
• Portuguese is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in DCS or PLC/SCADA in Industrial Automation.
• At least 6 Technical Lead roles of medium size projects (over 2000 I/O points).
• 8+ Years of Power Industry experience with startup, commissioning and performance testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement hardware database, logics, graphics and datalinks.
• Lead project tasks/site services within budget and schedule.
• Review application documentation for quality, accuracy and completeness.
• Work closely with project technical leaders to verify project requirements.
• Deliver assignments effectively, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
• Execute project tasks/site services according to quality, delivery date and budget.
• Lead product enhancement and solution definitions when required by Innovative Projects.
• Lead activities like FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup.
• Perform advanced control and performance solutions work.
• Lead implementation teams across plant processes (O&G, Chemical, Mining Power).
• Supervise Subcontractors during Engineering and Commissioning Phases.
• Responsible for Functional Design including retrofit projects.
• Develop Implementation and Commissioning Plans aligned with project requirements.
• Supervise Remote Engineering teams (India, Cluj, others).
• Promote Productivity tools and optimize Engineering hours.
• Validate Execution Strategy and estimate Engineering effort and risk.
• Lead High Complexity Commissioning and Plant Startups as Site Manager for teams of 10+ Engineers.
• Track project progress, budget and risk; issue weekly reports.
• Mentor SME teams and lead areas of expertise.
• Contribute to technical documentation and Continuous Improvement.
