Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Electrical Specialist Engineer in Santiago to plan, develop, and coordinate electrical engineering activities for complex EPC/EPCM projects, with focus on HV/MV transmission lines, substations, and protection systems.

You will lead engineering deliverables, manage specialized subcontractors, resolve technical issues, and support construction and commissioning, working with clients, suppliers, and multi‑discipline teams to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in HV transmission line and HV/MV substation engineering including engineering subcontractor supervision.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and review electrical engineering deliverables for Project execution.
• Review electrical system studies and calculations, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, grounding, and protection coordination studies.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations (TBEs).
• Review design and specification of HV/MV substations, HV/MV overhead transmission lines, power distribution systems, electrical equipment, grounding systems, and associated infrastructure, utilizing relevant EDPS, design standards, and guides.
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities with other disciplines, clients, utilities, suppliers, contractors, construction teams, and specialized engineering subcontractors.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving complex engineering issues and evaluating alternative design solutions.
• Manage and supervise engineering subcontractors responsible for HV/MV transmission line and substation design, including scope definition, deliverable planning, interface management, progress monitoring, technical reviews, and verification of compliance with project requirements.
