Job summary

Checkr is building the data platform to power safe and fair decisions. The Senior Software Engineer – Data Acquisition will design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines in Santiago, collaborating with engineers in Chile and the United States to deliver reliable, production‑grade software.

You will own features end‑to‑end, improve observability with logging and metrics, mentor junior engineers, and participate in architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a backend focus.
• Strong Python skills and production-grade code.
• Experience building or maintaining distributed systems, APIs, or data pipelines.
• Experience with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead the full development lifecycle for data platform features—from design to production monitoring.
• Design and build new data acquisition platforms in Python with reliability and observability.
• Participate in architecture decisions and write design documents.
• Improve platform visibility via structured logging, metrics, and alerting (Datadog/OpenTelemetry).
• Mentor junior engineers, lead code reviews, and raise engineering quality.
• Collaborate with Chilean and US engineers on async-first planning and execution.
