Checkr is hiring a Software Engineer II for the Data Acquisition team in Santiago, Chile. You will design, build, and operate data platforms, focusing on reliability and observability, with Python and/or Go at the core and distributed systems experience valued.

You will collaborate with teams in Chile and the US, participate in architecture decisions, and own end-to-end services, including on-call rotations and delivery accountability, in a hybrid office setting.

Formación

• Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a backend focus.
• Strong Python skills (or Go).
• Experience building or maintaining distributed systems, APIs, or data pipelines.
• Experience with containerized deployments - Docker, Kubernetes / EKS.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms - AWS preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Work on the development lifecycle for data platform features from design to production monitoring.
• Design and build data acquisition platforms in Python with reliability and scalability.
• Participate in architecture decisions and write design documents for team platforms.
• Improve platform visibility with logging, metrics, and alerts (Datadog, OpenTelemetry).

As a Software Engineer II on the Data Acquisition team, you will work on high-impact projects that directly support Checkr's core product. You will be a key contributor to the development and evolution of our data platforms, collaborating with engineers across Santiago and the US. Responsibilities:

• Work on development lifecycle for data platform features - from design and architecture through implementation, testing, and production monitoring.
• Design and build new data acquisition platforms in Python, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Participate in architecture decisions, write design documents, and contribute to technical direction for the team's platforms.
• Improve platform visibility through structured logging, metrics, and alerting using Datadog and OpenTelemetry.
• Work closely with engineers in Chile and the US, contributing to async-first planning and execution.

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
