Job summary

Checkr is seeking a Sr Software Engineer to advance our data platform. You will design and deliver new platform capabilities, collaborating with engineers and product partners to modernize the tech stack and automate workflows for scalability.

This role is based in Santiago, Chile with a hybrid model (3+ days in office at our hub). You will participate in on-call rotations, mentor juniors, and help shape the engineering roadmap while maintaining high reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Advanced English proficiency.
• 5+ years backend software development with Ruby, Golang, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong CS fundamentals: databases, data structures, algorithms, REST APIs.
• Proficiency in React.
• Experience in domain modeling, object design, and system architecture.
• Proven ability to write clear, tested code.
• Ability to estimate projects and set expectations.
• Ability to draft and review technical proposals and trade-offs.
• Ownership across the full development lifecycle including incident response.

Responsibilities

• Develop new platform capabilities and product offerings, from design through launch.
• Balance speed to market with long-term growth and design for the present.
• Collaborate with Product to shape initiatives and roadmap.
• Preserve reliability; participate in on-call rotations and address support requests.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers.
• Contribute to engineering process improvements and leadership reviews.
