Job summary

Sezzle is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own the evolution of authentication and authorization, focusing on a gateway and identity services. This backend role emphasizes scalable, secure edge services and zero-downtime migrations in a distributed microservices architecture.

You will lead technical vision, drive migration strategy, mentor teammates, and partner with Product, Security, and Compliance. This fully remote role offers world-spanning impact and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Deep expertise in authentication and authorization systems (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT).
Experience designing or operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.
Proficiency in Golang and RESTful APIs.
Experience with AI-forward engineering and LLM tooling.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field.

Responsibilities

Own the technical vision and roadmap for Sezzle’s authentication and authorization platform.
Architect, design, and build scalable auth services and gateway components in Golang, using AWS, MySQL/Postgres.
Lead phased, zero-downtime migrations with rollback safety.
Establish authentication/authorization standards (OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC/ABAC).
Mentor engineers and drive security, observability, and CI/CD across teams.
