Statkraft seeks a Market Analyst based in Santiago, Chile, to model and analyze the local energy market, maintain hydrothermal and renewable optimization dispatch models, and support commercial decision-making with robust analytics.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 3–5 years in market analysis, knowledge of SDDP/PLP/Plexos, and fluency in English. You will develop tools, forecast, and backtesting processes and contribute to Chile Commercial Operations.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mathematical/statistical engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of market analysis and power system optimization within the Chilean energy sector.
• Deep understanding of the Chilean electricity market, its optimization and regulatory framework.
• Experience with optimization models such as SDDP, PLP, Plexos or similar.
• Experience in data extraction, transformation and analysis using Python or similar tools.
• Experience in summarizing market information through presentations and reports.
• Desirable knowledge in portfolio optimization and regulatory topics.

Job Description

Based in Santiago, Chile, the Market Analyst will be responsible for actively modeling and analyzing the local energy market. The role's primary mission is to maintain and continuously update the hydrothermal and renewable optimization dispatch model and its database, along with other simulation tools and reports, as part of the Chile Commercial Operations team. The position supports commercial decision-making through market analysis, forecasting, and the development of analytical tools and methodologies.

Qualifications

The position is expected to contribute to the organization through the following outcomes:

Continuously improve and optimize modelling tools by incorporating new data, new methodologies and automation solutions that enhance efficiency and analytical accuracy.

Develop power market models and system analyses, delivering critical insights to support commercial, operational, and strategic decision-making.

Proactively evaluate regulatory changes and possible implications and implementations into optimization models.

Propose improvements in forecasting, evaluating and backtesting process.

Maintain and improve data management systems utilized by the market team

Competences Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mathematical/statistical engineering or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in market analysis, power system optimization, portfolio management and/or risk exposure assessment within the Chilean energy sector.
• Deep understanding of the Chilean electricity market, its optimization and operation rules and regulatory framework.
• Knowledge of the power generation business and its operational and economic dynamics.
• Experience in optimization models as SDDP, PLP, Plexos or similar.
• Experience in AI adoption, digitalization improvement, data extraction, data transformation and data analysis using Python or similar tools.
• Experience in elaborating presentations and reports covering information of the Chilean electricity market.
• Desirable knowledge and/or experience in portfolio optimization topics.
• Desirable knowledge and/or experience in regulatory topics.

Technical Knowledge

• Microsoft Office skills, advanced Excel knowledge.
• SDDP, PLP, Plexos or similar optimization models knowledge.
• Mathematical modelling and data analytics.
• AI adoption and Python programming or similar language.
• Advanced English proficiency.
