Job summary

BHP Chile in Santiago seeks a Principal Innovation Product (Leaching) to shape the copper leaching technology roadmap and drive step-change innovations across the value chain.

You will lead technical leadership without direct reports, collaborate with Assets, Studies, Technology, Commercial, Delivery, and external partners, and deliver robust techno-economic assessments to enable investment decisions and sustainable value for the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mining, or Electronic Engineering.
• 15+ years of professional experience in copper leaching and hydrometallurgy.
• Experience progressing technologies from concept through pilot and implementation readiness.
• Strong business case development and techno-economic evaluation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a Copper Leaching Technology Product Roadmap aligned with asset priorities and future growth opportunities.
• Build and manage a balanced portfolio of innovation initiatives addressing material business value drivers across the leaching value chain.
• Progress technologies through the innovation pipeline with risk-based learning plans reducing uncertainty.
• Deliver robust technical, operational, and economic assessments to enable prioritization of investments.
• Advance technologies through lab, pilot, and onsite demonstration programs toward implementation readiness and measurable value.
• Foster collaboration across Assets, Innovation, Studies, Commercial teams, and external partners.
• Strengthen organizational capability through lessons learned, documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve recovery, unlock resources, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability.
