Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the clinical pharmacy team, focusing on identifying discrepancies in medication histories and contributing to pharmaceutical care for patients across care boundaries.

You will print Emergency Care Summaries, assess GP information and liaise with patients, GPs, community pharmacies and care homes while ensuring documentation is complete and compliant with standards and COSHH regulations.

Qualifications

• National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
• SVQ Level III.
• Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Dispensary checking qualification.

Responsibilities

• The post holder will assess, manage and provide pharmaceutical care to individual patients referring to and liaising closely with a clinical pharmacist as appropriate.
• The post holder will print Emergency Care Summaries, assess GP information and Patients own drugs to compile a medication history, liaising with patients, GP’s, community pharmacies, care homes and carers as appropriate.
• The post holder contributes to the analysis of the ward based technical service to ensure delivery of a safe and efficient service with economic use of resources whilst adhering to local and departmental policies and procedures, current pharmaceutical standards and national legislation.
• To ensure that all relevant documentation and procedures are written, completed and appropriately reviewed and stored securely.
• Labelling and dispensing of inpatient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions.
• To undertake the final accuracy check of prescriptions dispensed by others including ward orders, controlled drugs, trial and unlicensed medicines and maintain a practitioners role in all aspects of dispensing.

Education

National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent

SVQ Level III

Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
