Job summary
Hitachi Energy's Zurich site is seeking a Project Manager for Structural Engineering to lead multidisciplinary projects from design through on-site installation. You will coordinate with teams across the Czech Republic, India, and external partners to deliver robust, compliant solutions in energy infrastructure.
The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 3+ years in technical project management, and strong communication in an international setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical project management within civil engineering, ideally in steel structures, industrial plants, substations, or energy infrastructure.
- Experience with GIS projects or substation engineering is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (2D and 3D AutoCAD); Tekla Structures BIM is beneficial.
- Understanding of Eurocodes, EN 1090; experience with SCIA Engineer or STAAD.Pro is a plus.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication and organizational skills in international teams; English required; German or other languages an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Manage structural engineering projects throughout the lifecycle from sales support to fabrication and on-site installation.
- Take technical and commercial responsibility for project execution, ensuring standards, timelines, costs, and quality targets.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering teams, and customers to define project requirements and deliver solutions.
- Interface between GIS project engineering and structural engineering for smooth coordination.
- Lead engineering activities with teams in Brno, Chennai, and external partners.
- Oversee procurement and fabrication of steel structures and platforms.
- Review engineering deliverables, resolve technical issues, and support factories and site teams.
- Drive continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and implementing sustainable solutions.
