Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Zurich-Oerlikon seeks a Project Manager Structural Engineering to lead civil-structural projects through design, fabrication and installation, coordinating with multiple international teams.

You will manage technical and commercial aspects, ensuring standards and quality while driving cross-disciplinary collaboration with GIS and structural engineering specialists. Strong English and German language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in technical project management within civil engineering, ideally in steel structures, industrial plants, substations, or energy infrastructure.
• Experience with GIS projects or substation engineering is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (2D/3D AutoCAD); Tekla Structures is beneficial.
• Understanding of structural design standards and building codes (Eurocodes, AISC, EN 1090).
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and organizational skills in cross‑functional, international teams.
• Professional proficiency in English; German or additional languages are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage structural engineering projects throughout the lifecycle from sales support to on-site installation.
• Take technical and commercial responsibility for project execution, ensuring timelines, costs, and quality targets.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering teams and customers to define requirements and solutions.
• Interface between GIS project engineering and structural engineering for cross-discipline coordination.
• Lead and coordinate engineering activities with teams in Brno, Chennai, and external partners.
• Initiate and oversee procurement and fabrication of steel structures and platforms.
• Review engineering deliverables and resolve technical and quality issues; support factories and site teams.
• Share lessons learned and drive continuous improvement for future projects.
