Job summary

Sunflower Labs is seeking a robotics diagnostics engineer to investigate complex system issues in our autonomous drone-in-a-box setup. You will combine log and code analysis with hands-on experiments on engineering systems and bench setups.

Qualifications

• Experience investigating complex software failures using logs, source code and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to reproduce intermittent issues and design experiments on engineering systems or simulators.
• Clear written and verbal communication about evidence, uncertainty, safety and availability impact.
• Curiosity, persistence and ownership when tackling unfamiliar problems.
• Degree in computer science, robotics or related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own investigations into system issues from new bug reports through to actionable findings, working with support to capture symptoms, operating conditions and relevant logs
• Analyze logs and source code, develop hypotheses, and reproduce and isolate failures through targeted tests on engineering systems and bench setups
• Assess issue severity with engineering, considering safety impact, system availability, affected versions and conditions, and uncertainty; expand critical findings promptly
• Give engineering clear evidence, reproduction steps and recommendations for fixes, and help verify that proposed changes address the underlying issue
• Recommend and validate workarounds and mitigations with engineering, and give support clear guidance on their use, limitations and operational implications
