The incumbent reports to the Head of the Web Unit, contributing to the management and outreach of the OHCHR.org website.
The Web Assistant is responsible for managing and updating the OHCHR.org website, acting as a primary point of contact for web-related inquiries and providing helpdesk services. This includes creating, updating, and deleting web content, ensuring information quality, and resolving content-related issues. The role involves monitoring website validity, managing content in English and Spanish, and coordinating translations. Additionally, the Web Assistant will customize web pages using Drupal, assist with user acceptance testing, document technical issues, and provide training to content contributors on web publishing best practices.
Manage and update the OHCHR.org website, serving as a primary contact for web helpdesk services. Create, update, and delete web content, ensuring quality control and adherence to business workflows. Respond to user inquiries, identify, and resolve web content errors. Monitor the website's content, including UN Human Rights mechanisms, operations, activities, and organizational entities. Ensure the validity of internal and external links, copyrights, and compliance with web guidelines. Assist with posting and maintaining English web content and act as the focal point for the Spanish version of the website. Coordinate translations using AGT and MemoQ. Customize web pages using Drupal CMS and assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Document and report technical issues to the web development vendor. Prepare documentation and procedures for web publishing processes and provide guidance and training to content contributors.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of five years of relevant web experience is required. This is reduced to three years if a first-level university degree is held. Three years of experience with Drupal CMS is desirable, as is experience with web authoring tools, image editing, and CAT tools like MemoQ.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, web accessibility, usability principles, and SEO techniques. Ability to research information and knowledge of media platforms and digital asset management. Skills in web maintenance, design, and development. Strong professionalism, planning, organizing, and technological awareness.
