Job summary

UNITED MACHINING Biel, Switzerland is seeking a Technical Knowledge Expert (d/f/m) to develop and maintain technical documentation for milling machines with Siemens One controls, and potentially Heidenhain. You will plan and deliver training for service technicians, sales teams, and specialists across international sales organizations, and support development projects with clear knowledge transfer.

• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on service technician experience.
• Experience in R&D, Technical Service, or industrial manufacturing; passion for knowledge sharing and documentation.
• Excellent written and spoken German; very good English.
• Strong communication, willingness to learn, structured, independent, proactive work style.
• Proficient in HTML and Microsoft Office; CAD experience with Solid Edge; SAP and ticketing systems advantageous.

• Create, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation, user manuals, and knowledge databases for milling machines with Siemens One controls and, ideally, Heidenhain controls.
• Plan and deliver technical training programs for service technicians, sales teams, and technical specialists across international United Machining sales orgs.
• Support development projects by ensuring comprehensive, audience-oriented documentation and effective knowledge transfer.
• Analyze, prepare, and document technical expert knowledge, including troubleshooting and service procedures, on internal platforms.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Service, Product Management, and Academy to promote global knowledge transfer and drive improvements.
• Support quality improvement processes related to customer issues and participate in customer visits when required.

Your tasks

• Creation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of technical documentation, user manuals, and knowledge databases for milling machines equipped with Siemens One controls and, ideally, Heidenhain controls, including their associated components and functionalities
• Planning and delivery of technical training programs for milling machines for service technicians, sales teams, and technical specialists within the international United Machining sales organizations
• Support of development projects by ensuring comprehensive, target audience-oriented technical documentation and effective knowledge transfer to service technicians
• Analysis, preparation, and documentation of technical expert knowledge, including troubleshooting guidance and service procedures, on internal knowledge-sharing platforms and websites
• Active collaboration with Engineering, Service, Product Management, and the Academy to promote global knowledge transfer and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Support of quality improvement processes related to customer issues and willingness to participate in customer visits when required

Your profile

• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering combined with several years of hands-on experience as a Service Technician; additional training in Electrical Engineering and/or Software Engineering would be an advantage
• Experience in Research & Development, Technical Service, or an industrial manufacturing environment, coupled with a passion for knowledge sharing and technical documentation
• Excellent written and spoken German language skills are essential for this role. Very good English language skills are also required
• Strong communication skills, a high willingness to learn, and a structured, independent, and proactive approach to work
• Proficient in HTML and Microsoft Office; experience with CAD systems (e.g., Solid Edge), SAP, and ticketing systems would be advantageous
