Job summary

MDPI is seeking a working student to join our Legal & Compliance team in Basel on-site. You will support data protection and regulatory compliance, handle inquiries, and help maintain internal records alongside your studies.

Communicate primarily in English, with German proficiency required. This role offers hands-on experience in academic publishing, flexible scheduling to fit your timetable, and a collaborative, international environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university or higher education institution.
• Fluent in English (C1) and German (C1) required.
• Confident use of MS Office and document management tools.

• Support daily operations with a primary focus on data protection and regulatory compliance.
• Handle incoming data protection inquiries.
• Liaise with other departments to retrieve and provide requested data within statutory timelines.
• Help monitor and implement policies and procedures related to data protection.
• Maintain our internal records.
• Draft correspondence and standard legal documentation.
• Assist in preparing and updating standard legal templates.
• Prepare clear, well‑structured emails, routine legal responses, and internal guidance.

Requirements

• Student Status: Currently enrolled in a university or higher education institution
• Language Skills: Fluent in English (C1); German (C1) is also required
• Technical Skills: Confident use of MS Office and digital tools for document management
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Keen attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
