Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Zürich seeks an SCM Engineering Specialist to link Engineering, R&D, SCM, and suppliers, ensuring supply chain considerations shape product development and enable optimized sourcing and launches.

You will translate engineering requirements into SCM solutions, coordinate work packages in R&D projects, and support regional and global sourcing strategies while driving cost efficiency and supplier performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in SCM, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
Several years of experience in SCM, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Engineering, Category Management, or Project Management.
Experience supporting R&D, product development, or industrialization projects in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of supplier management, sourcing strategies, and cost optimization.
Ability to translate technical requirements into effective sourcing solutions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate SCM work packages within R&D and product development projects.
Interface between project teams and SCM stakeholders for alignment.
Own SCM project documentation and submission of gate deliverables.
Provide input on costs, lead times, quality, and supply chain risks.
Collaborate with Category Managers and Supplier Quality teams to develop sourcing concepts.
Translate engineering requirements into SCM requirements and drive sourcing activities.
Support the implementation of regional and global sourcing strategies.
Ensure SCM readiness for product releases and knowledge transfer.
Contribute to continuous improvement and SCM process optimization.
