Job summary

Specto Medical AG in Basel, Switzerland, seeks a hands-on Machine Learning Engineer to strengthen core development and bring AI into production within a regulated health-tech setting.

You will design and optimize image processing and ML pipelines using Python and PyTorch, contribute data governance, and collaborate across data engineering and software teams. Ideal candidates have ~5 years of production ML experience and English proficiency, with Basel in-office presence.

Qualifications

• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Existing working permit in the EU or Switzerland; sponsorship not available.
• Around 5 years of production ML experience.
• Experience with 3D medical images is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and the EU AI Act.

Responsibilities

• Accelerate ML development by designing, building, and optimizing image processing and ML pipelines; own training and inference pipelines.
• Master data engineering: data governance, lineage, and secure, traceable training data; own data platform tools and standards.
• Build for scale and maintainability with simple, robust systems that support future development.
• Own your work: make high-level goals actionable and drive execution forward in a regulated environment.
