Moonlight Ai GmbH in Basel is seeking a founding Machine Learning Engineer to drive core algorithm development for the company’s AI platform. You will lead end-to-end model development, validation, and deployment, collaborating across clinical, product, and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes building scalable pipelines, model explainability, and regulatory evidence for clinical use, with strong emphasis on independent, remote work in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in Computer Vision, Biomedical Image Analysis, or a related field.
• Fluent in Python and at least one deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• 4+ years of industry experience in computer vision: segmentation, object detection, feature extraction on large-scale/high-res images.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and production deployment.
• Experience collaborating in team-based codebases with strong Git knowledge.
• Excellent English communication; able to work cross-functionally.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
• Work permit valid in Switzerland; willingness to travel if needed.

Aufgaben

• Develop, validate, and document deep learning algorithms to extract molecular results from whole slide images.
• Lead experiments to build novel algorithms and iterate while protecting the critical path.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, and business teams to translate requirements into model specs.
• Partner with data engineering to build scalable data pipelines and ensure traceability and compliance.
• Contribute to Moonlight’s AI platform with model integration, performance optimization, and deployment workflows.
• Develop explainability methods to support clinical trust and validation.
• Generate regulatory validation evidence to support submissions and go-to-market efforts.
