Job summary

C5I, based in Bern, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build and operate secure, open-source groupware and collaboration services. You will manage Linux infrastructure, on‑prem private cloud, and identity services, while automating provisioning with Terraform and Ansible.

The role includes CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes deployments and ongoing reliability improvements. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in CS/IT or equivalent, strong Linux experience, Docker/Kubernetes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong hands-on Linux and open-source infra experience.
• Experience with self-hosted email/groupware or collaboration platforms.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP and TLS.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of automation, CI/CD and scripting tools like Terraform, Ansible, Bash.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate secure, open-source groupware and collaboration services (email, file sharing, messaging, documents).
• Build and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and on-prem private cloud apps.
• Integrate and manage LDAP/OIDC authentication services; manage identity.
• Automate infra provisioning with Terraform/Ansible.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines; deploy in Kubernetes.
• Operate databases, storage, monitoring, backup and recovery; resolve issues.
• Continuously improve reliability, security and automation.
