Job summary

ELCA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable cloud data platforms powering strategic decisions for Swiss organizations. You will architect end-to-end data solutions using Azure, AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake, while promoting DevOps, IaC, and automation.

You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers across projects, mentor peers, and contribute to ELCA’s Data & AI thought leadership through innovative data products and best practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, cloud data platforms, or distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in SQL, data architecture, ETL/ELT, and large-scale data processing.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automation.
• Knowledge of Terraform, real-time or micro-batch architectures.
• Familiarity with data mesh, data products, or AI/ML environments is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in French and English.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and build enterprise-grade cloud data platforms from the ground up.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and distributed systems for large-scale data integration.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, software engineers, analysts, and data scientists.
• Contribute throughout the full project lifecycle: strategy, architecture, implementation, deployment, and optimization.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence within the team.
• Support innovation initiatives, proof-of-concepts, and technical pre-sales activities.
• Help shape ELCA’s Data & AI thought leadership through innovation and best practices.
