Job summary

Swisslinx AG in Zurich is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design and build a modern data platform for analytics and AI. The role focuses on data pipelines, data products, and backend services using Azure Databricks and PySpark.

You will work on scalable data solutions, ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and governance. The position starts onsite with a later hybrid setup (60% onsite / 40% remote) and a 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Data Engineering experience building enterprise-scale data platforms and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, and Spark Streaming.
• Proven experience with Azure Databricks and large-scale data processing.
• Excellent Python and SQL skills, including SQL performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, data products, and backend services for analytics, reporting, real-time processing, and AI use cases.
• Build and optimize large-scale data processing solutions using Databricks, Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.
• Develop and maintain efficient ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations.
• Design and implement data models for analytical and operational workloads.
• Write high-quality, secure, maintainable, and well-tested Python, Scala, and SQL code.
• Implement and enhance data quality, governance, and monitoring solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, automated deployments, and modern engineering practices.
• Collaborate closely with cloud, security, architecture, and business teams.
