Job summary

Radford City Public Schools is seeking an entry-level Technology Support Specialist I to help deploy, repair, and manage district-issued computing devices for students and staff. You will handle hardware repairs, device distribution, asset tracking, and documentation to ensure reliability across classrooms.

You will perform basic troubleshooting and escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff, contributing to smooth school operations and technology services throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License and ability to travel between school sites.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for computing devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and IT personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain district-issued laptops, Chromebooks, and related peripherals.
  • Assist with device deployment, distribution, collection, and reassignment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and document repair activity and parts usage.
  • Respond to help desk requests related to device issues and basic classroom technology problems.
  • Escalate complex software, network, or infrastructure issues to appropriate IT staff.
