Job summary

The Advanced Manufacturing Lab at ETH Zurich seeks a highly motivated Scientific Assistant to contribute to research and development in industrial robotics, automated manufacturing, and metrology. You will work on independent projects, integrate robotic hardware and sensors, and develop software for control and data handling.

They value hands‑on experience with robotics, programming skills in Python/C++, and the ability to collaborate with researchers and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in robotics or closely related field.
• Hands‑on experience with robotic systems from research or industry.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++ for robotics.
• Solid understanding of kinematics, motion planning, and control.
• Fluent English; German is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop, program, and operate industrial robotic systems for automated manufacturing.
• Design and implement robotic applications, including pick-and-place, welding, bonding, drilling.
• Integrate hardware and sensors, measurement equipment, and tooling.
• Develop and maintain software for robot control, planning, and automation with version control and CI/CD.
• Create automated data acquisition and processing workflows for robotics data.
• Apply metrology to evaluate robot accuracy and process quality.
