The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks a contractor to review and enhance the Russian translation of the Rotterdam Convention website. The role focuses on accuracy, official terminology, and consistency with UN standards.

You will edit approximately 4,957 words, provide a revised MS Word document with track changes, and add comments for mistranslations while ensuring terminology aligns with UN and UNEP guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in Russian editing within the UN or similar intergovernmental organizations.
• Three years of experience translating or editing English-to-Russian documents for UN, an international tribunal, or an organization dealing with legal matters is desirable.
• Experience with environment-related intergovernmental organizations in Russian is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Edit the Russian translation of the Rotterdam Convention website, providing a revised MS Word document with track changes.
• Review approximately 4,957 words of English source text and its automatic Russian translation, ensuring accuracy and consistency with official terminology.
• Add comments to highlight mistranslated words or phrases and ensure vocabulary consistency with UN and UNEP terminology; verify terminology and quotations; seek clarification when text is ambiguous.
