Job summary

UN Atlas seeks an experienced Arabic editor to revise the Rotterdam Convention website translation for the BRS Secretariat. You will ensure terminology aligns with UN and UNEP standards and annotate mistranslations with track changes.

Five years of Arabic editing within UN/IGOs are required, with three years of EN→AR translation/editing experience desirable. Knowledge of legal and scientific terminology is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of Arabic editing within the UN or similar intergovernmental organizations.
• Three years of experience translating or editing English→Arabic documents within UN, international tribunals, or legal bodies is desirable.
• Experience with environment-related intergovernmental organizations in Arabic is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Edit the Arabic translation of the Rotterdam Convention website provided as an MS Word document with track changes.
• Review ~4,957 words of automatically translated Arabic content against the English source.
• Ensure revised translation reflects official Rotterdam Convention terminology and maintains UN/UNEP vocabulary consistency.
• Add comments to identify mistranslations from the source.
