Zusammenfassung

Tecan seeks a Product Environmental Compliance Manager to serve as the SME for global product environmental compliance, leading regulatory projects and shaping compliant strategies across sites. You will monitor RoHS, REACH, PFAS, WEEE, and related rules, while coordinating supplier declarations and documentation with cross-functional teams.

You will also manage the compliance database, support risk analysis, provide training, and report status while traveling internationally up to 10% as needed.

Qualifikationen

  • Higher education degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years in product stewardship or product environmental regulations, preferably MedTech.
  • Experience implementing complex product environmental requirements.
  • Familiarity with RoHS, REACH, POP, PFAS, WEEE, Batteries, Packaging.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and German.
  • Strong communicator able to explain regulatory rationale to diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience in a matrix organization.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (<10%).
  • Experience with SAP or related systems is a plus.

Aufgaben

  • Execute SOPs for compliance with regulated substances and extended producer responsibility.
  • Lead and implement multiple regulatory projects with prioritization and execution.
  • Manage the global product environmental compliance database and data maintenance.
  • Ensure local EPR obligations (WEEE, packaging, batteries) registrations and reporting.
  • Surveil global regulatory landscape and help develop long-term strategies.
  • Support evaluation of new regulations and risk mitigation design.
  • Act as SME for senior leaders and cross-functional teams; respond to inquiries.
  • Provide training on product environmental compliance topics and audits.
  • Maintain clear status reporting and coordinate issuance of certificates.
  • Represent Tecan in trade associations and align with industry standards.

Product Environmental Compliance Manager (80-100%)
Your contribution

In this important and hands-on role, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product environmental compliance at Tecan, responsible for ensuring global compliance with all relevant product environmental and sustainability regulations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will operationally execute compliance processes and lead multiple complex regulatory projects across various Tecan sites. Your expertise will help shape Tecan’s approach to regulated substances in articles, extended producer responsibility, and the implementation of effective compliance strategies, all within a dynamic environment where regulatory developments are proactively monitored and integrated into our compliance efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Execute Tecan’s global SOPs for compliance with regulated substances in articles and extend producer responsibility (RoHS, REACH, POP, TSCA, Conflict Minerals, WEEE, batteries, packaging) including collection of supplier declarations and preparation of compliance documentation
  • Lead and implement multiple complex regulatory projects, ensuring efficient prioritization and execution (e.g. RoHS 6b, PFAS)
  • Manage the global product environmental compliance database, including compliance software and data maintenance.
  • Secure compliance with local extended producer responsibility obligations (WEEE, packaging, batteries), including registrations and reporting.
  • Contribute to surveillance and analysis of the global regulatory landscape, supporting the development of long-term compliance strategies.
  • Support technical evaluation of new regulations, early risk identification, and design of mitigation strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for senior leaders and cross-functional teams, answering internal and external queries.
  • Provide training on product environmental compliance topics and perform internal/intra-company audits.
  • Maintain clear compliance status reporting and coordinate issuing of compliance certificates and Critical Mineral reporting.
  • Possibility to represent Tecan in trade associations, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Your background

  • 5+ years of experience in product stewardship or product environmental regulations, preferably in MedTech.
  • Experience implementing complex product environmental requirements.
  • Familiarity with product environmental regulations and standards (RoHS, REACH, POP, PFAS, WEEE, Batteries, Packaging).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German.
  • Strong communicator able to explain the “why” behind regulations to diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience in a matrix organization.
  • Experience in material management, especially SAP.
  • Pragmatic, solution-driven working style with a sense of urgency and a strong track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (<10%).
