Zusammenfassung

ETH Zürich seeks a PhD candidate to advance 3D printing of stone for heritage restoration. The project develops a dual powder/dual liquid feed powder-bed printer and applies graded deposition to create compatible, durable replacement parts for historic stone structures.

In collaboration with the Chair for Physical Chemistry of Building Materials, the PhD will explore material behavior as a design medium and contribute to dissemination through publications and conferences.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in architecture or a closely related discipline with substantial design work.
• Strong background in digital fabrication and prototyping.
• Experience with mechanical design and electronics is highly valued.

Aufgaben

• Design, build, and commission a laboratory-scale powder-bed printer with dual feeds.
• Produce stone replacement parts for heritage buildings with graded properties.
• Develop tectonic strategies for connecting printed parts to historic structures.
• Contribute to research publications and supervise student projects.
• Collaborate with partner chair on deterioration research and printing process development.
