Job summary

NIL Technology in Switzerland is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to strengthen the Modules team with optomechanical expertise. You will define optomechanical design, build CAD models, and help turn demonstrators into professional, product-like devices for customer meetings.

The role involves tolerance analysis, cross-functional collaboration across optics, electronics and process teams, and close work with external suppliers to deliver manufacturable parts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as a mechanical or optomechanical development engineer in a high-tech optical environment.
• MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Microengineering, or related field.
• Expert in 3D CAD modeling with production drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Define the optomechanical design of optical modules, including lens/sensor holders, apertures, alignment features and housings.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and 2D production drawings including GD&T and maintain design data for internal builds, suppliers and customers.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and assess mechanical tolerances, thermal effects, and assembly processes on optical performance.
• Support demonstrators and prototypes from concept to final assembly to look professional and product-like.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure on-time and specification-compliant parts.
• Design jigs, fixtures and alignment tools for assembly and optical characterization.
