NIL Technology in Switzerland is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to strengthen the Modules team with optomechanical expertise. You will define optomechanical design, build CAD models, and help turn demonstrators into professional, product-like devices for customer meetings.
The role involves tolerance analysis, cross-functional collaboration across optics, electronics and process teams, and close work with external suppliers to deliver manufacturable parts.
Do you enjoy turning optical concepts into precise, robust and good-looking hardware?
As our new Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will strengthen our Modules team with optomechanical expertise. You will build the CAD models of our optical modules, define their optomechanical design, and help turn our demonstrators into professional, product-like devices that convince customers. This is a unique opportunity to grow your expertise in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment at the forefront of nano- and micro-optics innovation.
Based in our modern office and cleanroom facilities in Seehallen Horgen, right next to Lake Zürich, you will join an experienced, collaborative team of optics, electronics and process engineers dedicated to building next-generation optical modules and demonstrators.
You will be part of an ambitious company where we win together. Team spirit and mutual success are key components in our everyday work culture.Define the optomechanical design of our optical modules, including lens and sensor holders, apertures, alignment features and housings. Translate optical requirements into mechanical concepts and set tolerances that make our modules robust and manufacturable.
Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and 2D production drawings including GD&T, and maintain clean design data for internal builds, suppliers and customers.
Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and work with the optical design team to assess how mechanical tolerances, thermal effects and assembly processes affect optical performance.
Support the build-up of demonstrators and prototypes from concept to final assembly. Design housings, mounts and covers that make our demonstrators look professional and product-like for customer meetings and trade shows.
Select suitable manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, 3D printing and injection molding, and work with external suppliers and module integrators to ensure parts are delivered on time and to specification.
Design jigs, fixtures and alignment tools for module assembly and optical characterization in our lab and cleanroom.
