Job summary

ETH Zurich BRNC seeks a hands-on Nanofabrication R&D Engineer to join the BRNC cleanroom operations team in Zurich. The role focuses on developing and improving fabrication processes, taking ownership of selected equipment, and supporting safe introduction of new materials and experimental approaches.

Working with researchers and technical colleagues, you will perform process development, troubleshoot, train users, and help maintain efficient, safe, and compliant cleanroom operations across

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in nanofabrication, semiconductor processing, wet chemistry, and vacuum‑based techniques.
• Ability to work with chemicals, gases, safety protocols, and cleanroom operations.
• Strong IT proficiency with process databases and digital workflows.
• Excellent teamwork and communication in a dynamic research environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and document nanofabrication processes.
• Take ownership of selected semiconductor cleanroom systems including deposition and characterization.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and vendor interactions.
• Train researchers and contribute to safety training and SOPs.
• Drive integration of IT tools and digital platforms in workflows.
