Mechanical Project Manager – Data Centre

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take responsibility for the management and delivery of the mechanical scope across this major mission-critical development.

This is a key project leadership position, working closely with the client, PMC team, designers, main contractors, specialist subcontractors and vendors to ensure the mechanical systems are delivered safely, to programme, to specification and to the required quality standards.

The Role

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will provide senior management of the mechanical works from design coordination and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the mechanical package on a major data centre project.
• Manage mechanical contractors, specialist subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
• Provide day-to-day project leadership and coordination of mechanical works.
• Review mechanical designs, specifications, drawings and technical submissions.
• Manage design coordination and interfaces between mechanical, electrical, CSA and controls disciplines.
• Monitor construction progress against the project programme and key milestones.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and project requirements.
• Manage technical queries, RFIs, variations, design changes and project issues.
• Review contractor programmes, method statements, ITPs, commissioning plans and documentation.
• Monitor quality and ensure compliance with project standards and requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure systems are ready for functional and integrated testing.
• Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Attend and lead project meetings with the client, contractors and wider PMC team.
• Provide regular progress, risk and performance reporting to senior project leadership.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the successful completion and handover of the facility to the client.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager / Mechanical Construction Manager with a strong background in large-scale, complex construction projects.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience working on hyperscale, colocation or other mission-critical facilities.
• Strong mechanical building services knowledge.
• Proven experience managing mechanical contractors and specialist subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of construction, testing, commissioning and handover processes.
• Experience managing complex project interfaces and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong programme, planning and project-management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Experience working in a client-side, PMC or consultancy environment would be highly advantageous.
• Ability to operate effectively within a large, fast-paced international project environment.
• A strong focus on safety, quality, programme and delivery.
