Job summary

Bank Vontobel is seeking a commercially minded Head of Market and Counterparty Risk Control to lead risk governance and analytics capabilities. You will interact with trading desks daily, drive enterprise risk oversight, and collaborate with executive leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and robust risk frameworks.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline from a leading university.
• 12+ years in Market Risk/Quantitative Risk or related function with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to build rapport with trading and business heads and challenge first-line thinking.
• Deep familiarity with modern data architectures and analytics stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Python, SQL).
• Strong knowledge of market risk methodologies and regulatory requirements (FRTB-SA/IRRBB).
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills; fluent English; German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible, influential presence on the trading floor and provide credible challenge to first-line thinking.
• Lead and mentor a risk team; oversee aggregation, analysis, and governance of market and counterparty risk data across asset classes.
• Champion modernization of risk infrastructure and data platforms.
• Partner with Front Office, Finance, Technology, and Regulatory teams to enhance analytics and control frameworks.
• Oversee investigations into valuation, risk, and reporting discrepancies and implement remediation.
• Design and maintain market risk methodologies, capital calculations, and regulatory frameworks including FRTB-SA/IRRBB.
• Interface with Internal Audit, regulators, and the Board on risk analytics and capital matters.
