The Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) is a global platform dedicated to advancing sustainable finance and impact investing through evidence-based research, education, and practical engagement. Founded in 2015 by Dr. Falko Paetzold with the inaugural Impact Investing for the Next Generation (IING) training program at Harvard Kennedy School, CSP has evolved into an internationally recognized organization with a presence spanning multiple continents and prestigious academic institutions. CSP operates across three major regions: the Americas (in partnership with MIT Sloan and Stanford PACS), Asia-Pacific (with operations in Singapore), and EMEA (with the CSP Foundation headquartered in Zurich and an academic home at the University of St. Gallen [HSG]). The organization functions as a unique nexus connecting academic research, practical implementation, and real-world impact in the sustainable finance and impact investing sectors. In 2025, the CSP Foundation (CSPF) was formally established in Zurich as the umbrella entity overseeing CSP’s global operations and running key programs alongside global shared services. The foundation operates a global alumni community of approximately 300 wealth holders and maintains an extensive network of researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem partners. CSPF works with leading practitioners and institutions including UBS, Julius Bär, Cape Capital, and organizations such as Toniic, The ImPact, FBN, and YIO to advance sustainable development and systems change in the wealth management and philanthropic sectors. The organization is transitioning from its founder-led model to a more distributed leadership structure while maintaining the founder’s strategic vision and extensive networks. CSPF currently operates with a local team of 8 people in Zurich and a global team of 25 people across its various entities.

About this Role

The Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) – Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Managing Director to lead the organization through its next stage of growth and development. This is a catalytic leadership role positioned at the intersection of private wealth and impact-investing science and practice, uniquely embedded within a global community of top-tier academics, practitioners, investors, and impact-focused organizations. As the Managing Director of CSPF, you will drive the overall day-to-day leadership of the foundation while working collaboratively with the founder, who continues to provide strategic vision and leverage the organization’s extensive networks. You will work closely with the Deputy Managing Director, the CSPF Board, and coordinate effectively with Managing Directors of other CSP entities across the global network. This position offers a shared leadership model that allows you to concentrate your energy on external growth, strategic development, and relationship building rather than managing routine internal operations. You will be instrumental in translating the board-adopted strategy into concrete priorities and measurable progress, while ensuring CSP’s programs reach the right participants and that the foundation’s resources continue to grow.

Responsibilities

• Translate CSPF’s board-adopted strategy into concrete priorities and measurable progress against shared global CSP KPIs in collaboration with the global Managing Director team
• Own responsibility for core programs including the Next Gen and Family Office programs, ensuring qualified ultra-high-net-worth participants and family offices are actively engaged
• Develop and execute CSPF’s fundraising strategy, including identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with donors, funders, and philanthropic partners to secure and grow the foundation’s resource base
• Personally secure major gifts and build deep relationships with prospective donors through prospect research and ongoing stewardship
• Nurture CSP’s global alumni community of approximately 300 wealth holders and the broader network of researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs in support of CSP’s research, training, and engagement activities
• Build and maintain CSP’s external presence and relationships with academic institutions (HSG, MIT Sloan, Stanford PACS), industry leaders, and ecosystem actors (Toniic, The ImPact, FBN, YIO)
• Represent CSP’s research and training in public settings to communicate knowledge to relevant stakeholders at strategic moments
• Collaborate closely with the Deputy Managing Director and other leaders across the CSP network and joint Board
• Lead and develop the local Zurich team while fostering a high-performing, mission-driven team culture
• Ensure qualified participants are engaged in programs and that curriculum quality translates into real-world impact

Requirements

• Several years of experience building or running a high-performing social business with strong process development and business development capabilities
• Progressive fundraising experience with a demonstrated track record of personally securing major gifts from prospect research through stewardship
• Experience shaping organizational or programmatic strategy, ideally across multiple entities or geographies
• Strong talent for building relationships and communicating clearly with the credibility to represent the organization to donors, academic partners, and industry stakeholders
• Ideally, an existing network in sustainable finance, impact investing, or philanthropy with understanding of family offices, ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) investing, and philanthropic decision-making
• Understanding of the challenges and opportunities in impact investing for wealth holders, or willingness to develop this understanding
• Strategic thinking capability combined with strong execution abilities and the ability to take ownership and follow things through
• Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving, growing organization
• Trustworthy leadership style with the ability to build consensus among different stakeholders
• Based in or around Zurich, or genuinely ready to relocate with permission to work in Switzerland
• Willingness to travel internationally as required
• Fluency in English; German language proficiency is a strong advantage
