Job summary

Lonza in Basel, Switzerland seeks a Lab of the Future Lead (Director level) to define the lab of the future and advance automated, autonomous laboratory concepts across QC, R&D and manufacturing. You will drive robotics integration, PAT applications and data-enabled operations, partnering across analytics, engineering and manufacturing functions.

The role focuses on translating strategic analytical needs into scalable, future-ready laboratory and process systems while ensuring regulatory

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master in Analytical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
Laboratory Strategy & Future-State Design: translate QC, analytical and business needs into future-state concepts.

Responsibilities

Define the Lab of the Future vision, roadmap and target operating concepts.
Develop end-to-end concepts for highly automated and autonomous laboratories.
Integrate workflows, analytical equipment, robotics, sample handling, digital systems and data.
Align future laboratory concepts with QC, R&D, Analytical Development, platform and manufacturing strategies.
Identify opportunities to automate sample preparation, movement, testing and result handling.
Drive application of robotics for repetitive, high-frequency tasks and contamination-sensitive activities.
Drive integration of PAT, online/at-line monitoring and real-time analytics into future operations.
Lead lighthouse projects and pilots evaluating analytical, automation, robotics, and process-monitoring technologies.
Connect analytical data with process control strategies and future operating models.
