Zusammenfassung

LS Instruments AG, now part of Postnova Analytics GmbH, seeks an Instrument Development Engineer to lead mechanical, thermal, and electronics engineering for advanced scientific instruments. The candidate will work on space instrumentation projects and a commercial product line, blending optics, mechanics and embedded electronics.

The role demands a Master’s or PhD in a related field, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), and experience with instrument-scale thermal design.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, physics, optics or related discipline.
• Experience working independently in a small cross-disciplinary team.
• Self-motivated and proactive in completing assigned tasks.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) for precision mechanical assemblies.
• Thermal analysis of instrument-scale systems: steady-state and transient modelling, TEC/Peltier control design.
• Prior experience in scientific instrumentation or laboratory equipment development.
• Understanding of how optical, mechanical, and electronic sub-systems integrate.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Swiss/EU citizenship or valid working permit for Switzerland.
• French and/or German language skills advantageous.

Aufgaben

• Mechanical and optomechanical design of scientific instruments: optical bench layouts and mounts.
• Thermal analysis and design of temperature control systems, including Peltier regulation.
• Electronics architecture definition: power distribution and cabling layouts for laser/detector systems.
• Resource budgets for system documentation and specs.
• Prototyping, testing, and design iteration with optics and software teams.
