Job summary

Proxima Fusion GmbH is in Zurich, Switzerland, seeking an engineer to architect industrialised manufacturing for magnet production and to scale processes toward our first commercial stellarator components. You will design and integrate systems across welding, bonding, sealing, and coating, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and develop development plans from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanical, mechatronics, or similar engineering field.
• Extensive experience in industrial manufacturing and process development.
• Hands-on production experience across welding, machining, assembly, bonding.
• Experience prototyping and testing.
• Ability to design development plans for new processes.
• Strong trouble-shooting skills on production lines.
• Ability to work across diverse tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Reliable, proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong team player collaborating with engineers and technicians.
• Willingness to experiment, take risks, and learn from mistakes.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements for industrialised manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Contribute to in-process monitoring and non-destructive testing.
• Determine quality requirements to ensure smooth manufacturing.
• Design jigs and tools for magnet production.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians across teams.
