Job summary

Nestlé Product Technology Center for Coffee in Orbe, Switzerland is seeking an R&D Intern – Powder Structure and Performance for a six-month project. You will explore multicomponent powders, study how lipid and protein content affect powder structure, dissolution, and flowability, and collaborate with the team to build composition–property relationships.

You will gain hands-on laboratory experience, mentorship, and exposure to analytical techniques, with an emphasis on data-driven conclusions

Qualifications

• Student or fresh graduate in a scientific field (Materials Science, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry).
• Strong interest in powders, transport phenomena, and characterization.
• Curious, rigorous, hands-on with lab work and experimental design.
• Good quantitative analysis and clear communication, able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Review literature on multicomponent powders and composition–structure–property relationships.
• Define hypotheses linking lipid and protein composition to powder behaviour.
• Design and conduct controlled experiments with relevant measurements.
• Characterize dissolution and flowability using quantitative methods.
• Apply statistical analysis to identify correlations and trends.
• Prepare a technical report and presentation with conclusions.
