Job summary

Hilo by Aktiia, a Swiss med-tech scale-up, seeks a Financial Controller to own the integrity of financial records across multiple entities and jurisdictions. You will manage monthly, quarterly and annual closes, oversee a small accounting team and external providers, and drive automation and AI-enhanced processes to scale finance.

English fluency and strong accounting controls are essential. Based in Switzerland with a remote-first setup, you will partner with FP&A, Operations and Tax advisors,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, audit (Big 4) or financial controlling.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Hands-on experience owning or coordinating monthly and annual closings.
• Experience with multiple legal entities and intercompany accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial controls (incl Sox) and audit requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems and investigating transactions directly within the system.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and data handling.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• A hands-on, ownership-driven approach and interest in AI/automation to improve Finance processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual closing across the Group.
• Coordinate accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions, ensuring consistent practices and timely reporting.
• Supervise the day-to-day accounting activities of a two-person team, covering revenue, COGS, inventory, payroll, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and general ledger accounting.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting documentation and balance sheet accounts.
• Maintain the closing calendar, responsibilities and controls, including cut-off and accounting treatment across entities.
• Continuously improve the speed, quality and reliability of the close.
• Act as a key Finance contact for annual audits and reviews and provide required information.
• Partner with FP&A to ensure timely, accurate and consistent financial reporting.
