Job summary

Opterra Solutions, Inc. seeks a Lead Accountant to own financial reporting, statutory closing processes, and controls for the main Swiss manufacturing entity and support other Swiss entities.

You will build and improve financial processes, drive internal controls, and lead the transition toward international accounting standards while coordinating with stakeholders and auditors.

Qualifications

• Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance & Accounting is required.
• Strong IFRS and/or US GAAP knowledge is essential.
• Experience implementing and maintaining Internal Control Systems (ICS).
• ERP process improvements and finance automation experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closings under Swiss CO.
• Prepare consolidation reporting for Swiss entities and support group reporting.
• Support transition to IFRS or US GAAP and own related reporting/reconciliation activities.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate statutory audits.
• Coordinate VAT filings and tax closing with external advisors.
• Develop, maintain and improve the Internal Control System (ICS).
• Own accounting policies, reporting standards and finance governance docs.
• Drive improvements in Record-to-Report and ERP-supported processes.
• Lead finance transformation and process improvement projects.

Job description

As Lead Accountant, you will take ownership of financial reporting, statutory closing processes, and controls for the main Swiss manufacturing entity while supporting additional Swiss legal entities. You will act as a technical accounting expert, drive the further development of financial processes and internal controls, and play a key role in the company's transition towards international accounting standards.

Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders, you will contribute to strengthening the finance function through process optimization, system improvements, and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings under Swiss Code of Obligations (Swiss CO)
• Prepare consolidation reporting for Swiss entities and support group reporting requirements
• Support the transition to IFRS or US GAAP and own related reporting and reconciliation activities
• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate statutory audits
• Coordinate VAT filings and tax closing activities with external advisors
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the Internal Control System (ICS), including risk-control matrices, process documentation and key controls
• Own accounting policies, reporting standards and finance governance documentation
• Drive improvements within the Record-to-Report process and enhance ERP-supported finance processes
• Lead finance automation initiatives in collaboration with ERP partners and business stakeholders
• Improve closing efficiency, reporting quality and finance KPIs
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to accounting colleagues across locations
• Lead and deliver finance transformation and process improvement projects

Candidate Profile

• Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance & Accounting
• 8+ years of experience in financial accounting within industrial, manufacturing, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech or similar environments
• Strong expertise in Swiss CO reporting and practical IFRS and/or US GAAP knowledge
• Proven experience implementing and maintaining Internal Control Systems (ICS)
• Experience driving ERP process improvements and finance automation initiatives
• Strong Excel skills; Power Query and Power BI considered advantageous
• Fluent German and very good English
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change without direct authority
• Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building scalable processes and structures
