Job summary

Adaptyv Biosystems in Lausanne, Switzerland, is seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer to design and build automated lab hardware. You’ll prototype mechanical and mechatronic components, integrate sensors and actuators, and take concepts from CAD to fabrication, testing and deployment in our lab.

You'll work with automation, software, and biology teams to deliver reliable hardware for continuous operation with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience designing and building physical things.
• Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape).
• Experience with 3D printing, basic machining or mechanical assembly.
• Comfort working with hand and power tools in a workshop.
• Some exposure to sensors, motors or basic electronics (Arduino-level).
• Curious, eager to learn, and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and build mechanical and mechatronic components for automation.
• Develop fixtures, mounts, enclosures, and robotic interfaces.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, motors with control electronics.
• Take designs from CAD through fabrication, assembly, testing and deployment.
• Help integrate new hardware into automated workflows.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and integration issues.
• Improve existing hardware for reliability and maintainability.
• Source components and liaise with suppliers on custom parts.
