Job summary

Adaptyv Bio in Lausanne, Switzerland is hiring a software engineer to build orchestration software for automated biology experiments. You will drive real machines with code, ensuring robust operation and observability in a fast-growing biotech platform.

You will work across the hardware–software boundary, developing instrument drivers and multi-instrument protocols using Python and TypeScript, collaborating with lab automation engineers, scientists, and the software team.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills; production code in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience driving hardware with software, reading protocol specs.
• Lab automation experience with PyHamilton, PyLabRobot, Opentrons or similar.

Responsibilities

• Build work-cell orchestration for liquid handlers, plate readers, incubators, and robot arms.
• Reverse-engineer and develop instrument drivers and APIs for multiple protocols.
• Model and execute complex multi-step protocols reliably across instruments.
• Create error-recovery logic and monitoring to maintain 24/7 operation.
