Job summary

Expleo seeks a DeltaV Engineer to support pharmaceutical automation programs using Emerson DeltaV DCS. You will design, configure, test and document automation solutions, working closely with Automation, Instrumentation, Process, IT/OT, Validation and Production teams.

Ideal candidates have hands-on DeltaV configuration and development experience, including control modules, sequences and alarms, within GMP environments and with CSV awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial IT or related.
• 4–15 years in industrial automation with substantial hands-on DeltaV experience.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements and CSV in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and develop applications on the Emerson DeltaV platform.

Overview

DeltaV Engineer (M/F) – Pharmaceutical Automation

Context

As part of long-term engineering projects with a major international player in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, we are seeking a DeltaV Engineer specialized in Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

You will be involved in the automation of production processes, covering activities from design and configuration through testing, integration, and technical documentation. You will work closely with Automation, Instrumentation, Process, IT/OT, Validation, and Production teams.

We are looking for a specialist with hands-on experience in Emerson DeltaV configuration and development, rather than a general automation engineer or a profile focused solely on maintenance activities.

Your Responsibilities

DeltaV Design & Development

• Analyze process functional requirements and contribute to the definition of automation solutions.
• Design, configure, and develop applications on the Emerson DeltaV platform.
• Develop and configure control modules, equipment modules, phases, and operational sequences.
• Participate in the configuration of recipes and process control functions according to project requirements.
• Configure operator interfaces, graphics, alarms, and event management.
• Contribute to the definition and maintenance of the control system architecture.
• Ensure DeltaV integration with field instrumentation, process equipment, and third-party systems.

Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and maintain functional and design specifications, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and configuration documentation.
• Document control strategies, operational sequences, and system modifications.
• Ensure traceability of system changes and support change control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with GMP requirements and standards applicable to computerized systems in regulated environments.
• Participate in the preparation of testing and validation documentation.

Testing, Integration & Project Support

• Participate in functional testing activities and FAT/SAT campaigns as required.
• Verify application performance and contribute to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with Process, Instrumentation, Electrical, IT/OT, and Validation teams.
• Provide technical support during system integration and enhancement projects.
• Contribute, when required, to commissioning activities and the resolution of technical issues related to DeltaV applications.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial IT, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 4 to 15 years of experience in industrial automation, including significant hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV.
• Proven experience in DeltaV configuration and development, including control modules, phases, equipment modules, sequences, and alarm management.
• Experience with DCS platforms and process control systems.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or chemical industries is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of GMP requirements and documentation practices within regulated environments.
• Knowledge of GAMP 5 and Computerized System Validation (CSV) is an advantage.
• Experience with FAT/SAT activities and system integration is appreciated.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Professional proficiency in English is required; German language skills are a plus.

Technical Environment

• Emerson DeltaV: mandatory.
• DCS configuration, control modules, phases, equipment modules, and sequences.
• Alarms, operator interfaces, recipes, and process control functions, depending on project scope.
• FDS, configuration documentation, functional testing, and validation documentation.
• PAS-X, Syncade, or other MES platforms: an advantage.
• IT/OT knowledge and experience with interfaces between industrial systems: highly desirable.
