Job summary

Amazon Data Services Switzerland GmbH seeks a Data Center Technician to support high-density, large-scale cloud infrastructure. You will handle hardware/system issues, perform rack installations, and participate in shift rotations to ensure 24x7 coverage.

The role emphasizes SOP adherence, safety, and collaboration with vendors while contributing to the expansion of AWS data centers in the region.

Qualifications

• Hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Booting: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID.
• Some experience with network protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, Layer2 & Layer3 troubleshooting.
• Network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers.
• Strong communication skills.
• This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 18 kilos; shift-based work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets.
• Serve as escalation point for systems and network hardware issues.
• Troubleshoot issues on platforms ranging from systems to networking.
• Adhere to security and safety SOPs in the data center.
• Meet 24x7 on-call requirements and respond during rotations.
• Install and configure racks of hosts per internal SLAs.
• Triage and resolve trouble tickets for devices in the region.
• Act as data center point of contact for high severity issues.
• Interact with vendors and contractors; contribute to operational improvements.
