Job description

At Copenhagen Atomics, we believe that abundant, reliable and affordable energy is fundamental to human progress. Since 2014, we have been developing a new generation of nuclear energy technology based on thorium molten salt reactors. Our ambition is to industrialize nuclear energy through mass manufacturing, standardized reactor systems and a fundamentally different approach to deployment and economics.

Copenhagen Atomics is approaching 100 employees across Denmark and Switzerland, with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, technicians and commercial professionals.

As we enter the next phase of our growth, we are looking for an exceptional Chief Sales Officer to join our executive team and build the commercial organization that will bring Copenhagen Atomics technology to customers around the world.

The role

This is not a traditional sales leadership position.

Selling a new nuclear energy technology requires navigating long sales cycles, complex technical requirements, major capital commitments, regulatory considerations and multiple stakeholders — often across several countries and organizations.

We are therefore looking for a commercially driven executive who has successfully sold high-value, technically complex systems or major industrial projects and knows how to turn early customer interest into contracts.

You will build and lead the Copenhagen Atomics sales organization from Zug, Switzerland, establish our commercial processes and personally participate in our most important customer relationships and negotiations.

Your ultimate measure of success will be straightforward: building a strong order pipeline and converting it into signed commercial agreements and revenue.

The position reports directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

You will take responsibility for:

  • Revenue generation — build a credible path from customer engagement to signed contracts and long-term revenue.
  • Strategic customers — personally develop relationships with senior decision-makers at major industrial and energy companies.
  • Complex deal execution — lead major commercial negotiations from initial engagement through technical evaluation, commercial structuring and contract signature.
  • Sales organization — recruit, develop and lead a high-performing international sales team based primarily from Zug.
  • Pipeline management — establish disciplined processes for identifying, qualifying and prioritizing opportunities and allocating resources to the opportunities most likely to become successful projects.
  • Commercial structuring — work with finance and legal to develop commercial models that align Copenhagen Atomics, customers, investors and project partners.
  • Market development — identify new applications, geographic markets and strategic partnerships that can accelerate deployment.
  • Customer intelligence — bring customer requirements and market information back into the organization and help translate them into commercial and product priorities.
  • Leadership — create a culture of accountability, urgency, professionalism and continuous improvement within the commercial organization.
The profile we are looking for

You have substantial experience selling complex, high-value technology, industrial systems or infrastructure and can demonstrate that you have personally contributed to closing significant international transactions.

Experience from energy, power generation, industrial infrastructure, process industries, data centers, hydrogen, chemicals, heavy industry or other complex technology markets would be particularly relevant.

We expect that you:

  • Have successfully sold high-value, technically complex systems, projects or infrastructure.
  • Have a strong and demonstrable record of closing major commercial transactions.
  • Understand long and complex B2B sales cycles involving technical, financial, regulatory and executive stakeholders.
  • Are comfortable engaging directly with CEOs, boards, industrial executives, governments and major project partners.
  • Know how to move a relationship from initial interest through qualification, technical evaluation, commercial negotiation and contract signature.
  • Can build and manage a disciplined international sales pipeline.
  • Understand that the best opportunity is not always the largest one — and know how to prioritize customers where there is a realistic path to execution.
  • Are commercially ambitious while maintaining credibility and integrity when representing complex technology.
  • Can communicate sophisticated technical and economic concepts clearly to non-technical decision-makers.
  • Combine strategic thinking with a strong bias toward execution.
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity, transparency, sound judgement and personal accountability.
  • Communicate professionally in English. German or Swiss German would be an advantage.
  • Are willing to be based in Zug and travel internationally as required.

Experience from nuclear energy is not required. Experience selling major energy, infrastructure or industrial projects would be highly relevant.

The person

Copenhagen Atomics has an entrepreneurial culture with ambitious technical and commercial goals.

We value people who take responsibility, think independently, communicate openly and act with integrity. We believe strong teams are built around trust, personal accountability, intellectual curiosity and freedom to act.

You should enjoy ambitious goals, difficult negotiations and an environment where progress matters more than hierarchy.

You should also enjoy selling.

We are looking for someone who gets energy from meeting customers, understanding what drives their decisions, building trust and finding a path through complex negotiations.

You should be comfortable hearing "no", persistent enough to continue when there is a real opportunity, and disciplined enough to walk away when there is not.

Most importantly, you should want to build and lead a commercial organization capable of selling a new category of energy technology on a global scale.

Why Copenhagen Atomics?

This is an opportunity to build a commercial organization around a technology with the potential to materially change the economics of nuclear energy.

The CSO will have significant influence over our market strategy, customer relationships, commercial models and international expansion.

You will work directly with the CEO, engineering leadership, finance team and major international customers to transform Copenhagen Atomics from primarily a technology development company into a company with a substantial global order book.

For the right person, this is an opportunity not simply to manage an existing sales organization, but to build one from the ground up.
