Job summary

Helvetas in Switzerland seeks an Advisor Climate Resilient Agriculture to develop and implement advisory services across Zurich or Bern. You will shape climate resilience approaches, manage complex projects, and engage with international donors and partners to strengthen Helvetas' program portfolio.

The role requires 5+ years in international development, strong climate expertise, and fluency in English and French; travel 3–4 times yearly is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or BSc with experience and additional relevant education.
• At least 5 years of international development cooperation experience, including 3 years field-based in Global South/East.
• Proven expertise in climate-resilient agriculture, climate change mitigation, sustainable food systems and value chains.
• Strong knowledge of climate science/policy, adaptation, mitigation and monitoring of resilience.
• Experience with climate risk assessment and farmer-focused adaptation solutions.
• Strong project management and advisory skills with acquisition experience.
• Good networks with Swiss academic/private sector/professional associations.
• Excellent spoken and written English and French; other languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel 3–4 times a year.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and strategic advice and manage advisory assignments for Helvetas projects and external clients.
• Strengthen capacities and integrate climate and disaster risks in programs; monitor progress.
• Lead or contribute to acquisition processes and design donor-funded projects.
• Maintain relationships with clients and partners to support collaboration and acquisition.
• Contribute to development of Helvetas' approaches and knowledge products on climate resilient agriculture.
• Engage with Swiss and international networks and explore private-sector partnerships.
